General summary/purpose:

Data Assistant for IT Finance (Trainee/student assistant). This is a casual position for undergraduate student as Data assistant studying Accounting, Business Administration, or economics at colleges and universities. Hours are flexible with a salary of $12 per hour. On average, through the summer months, we anticipate the assistant will work 30 hours per week. Students interested in learning traits for jobs with titles such as ‘Financial Analyst’ should apply.

 

This non-benefits bearing assistant position will work under the direct supervision of the Finance Manager. Use of standard Microsoft tools are required to perform this work. Data gathering and analysis, as well as some administrative duties will be administered in this position.

 

Specific duties & responsibilities: The incumbent with work under the direct supervision of the Finance Manager and Sr. Financial Analysts in the University IT department. Use of standard Microsoft tools are required to perform this work. The tasks associated with this position include:

  • Data Gathering and Analysis
  • Use of the SAP accounting system
  • Maintaining and Analyzing Financials on an ad hoc basis
  • Reviewing and generating reports and correspondence as requested.
  • Researching online literature and/or electronic databases for financial metrics used in analysis
  • Tasks for other groups as assigned.

 

Minimum qualifications:

Education:  High School Diploma/GED required. Undergraduate IT students from community colleges and universities working to obtain degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics are highly preferred.

Experience: Six months related experience required. Additional education may substitute for experience. Experience with Microsoft application package. 

Preferred qualifications:  Familiarity with information systems concepts and principals. Familiarity with financial and business terms

Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

 

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
