General summary/purpose:

This position is responsible for working with program managers across all subject areas to build, update and maintain K-12 curriculum and online courseware.

Responsibilities:

General:

  • Works with the Program Managers to improve/create great online course experiences for CTY students.
  • Creates and revises K-12 courses within our LMS (Moodle) using multimedia development tools such as H5P, Adobe Connect, etc.
  • Upgrade and update online educational resources and materials to better formats for optimized usability and accessibility.
  • Manages and completes complex, long-term projects which are core to CTY annual goals.
  • Identifies and communicates opportunities for process and quality improvements, providing feedback on usage, defects, and suggested enhancements.
  • Acquires and maintains knowledge of current technology as it applies to LMS software and systems.

User Management:

  • Creates user logins as needed and assigns user permissions.
  • Creates and manages user structures including the creation of user groups and learning cohorts.

Course Management:

  • Publishes and archives online or blended learning solutions, manages curricula, and adds and deletes resources.
  • Creates and manages the overall course structure and sets up course programs based on specifications from the Program Manager.
  • Provide administrative assistance in the areas of course material production and Internet research.
  • Builds online assessments and evaluations in LMS for courses.
  • Manages tracking of course revisions and history.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates degree in related field is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

  • 2 - 3 years related experience is required
  • Technical skills including HTML, learning management systems, and general troubleshooting and understanding of directory, file structures, and systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Ability to collaborate with others at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to gain new technical skills quickly
  • Customer service skills, responsive attitude
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex technical concepts in layman’s terms

Required Special Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with learning management systems and online education technologies, such as Moodle, Adobe Connect and Skype.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software, as needed

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification:

  • Coursework and/or certifications relating to learning management system administration preferred
  • Familiarity with course design and development
  • Working knowledge of multiple web design technologies, such as HTML

Physical Requirements for the Job:

  • Ability to sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse pad and other office machinery
  • The incumbent will be required to communicate regularly via telephone and face to face with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate and timely information in these settings
  • Position also requires a degree of mobility common to working in an office environment; bending, kneeling or standing during events and presentations may be required.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
