Financial Analyst

General summary/purpose:

Manage financial transactions involving federal and/or private grant and contracts, and gift and discretionary accounts both pre and post award for the Department of Neurology as well as managing the Bayview Hospital budget. Perform comprehensive analysis and projections, relating to business or research trends to improve divisional operational and financial effectiveness. Oversee the development and monitoring of gift and discretionary budgets. Assist in grant financial planning and cost analysis. Analyze financial data to ensure efficient use of resources. Ensure compliance with university, hospital and/or agency regulations and restrictions.

 

Specific duties & responsibilities:

Financial Daily/Weekly/Monthly Responsibilities: Complete monthly financial reports for designated area within the division. Reconcile accounts on a monthly basis. Prepare and process payroll documents needed to reduce control salary with designated area assigned. Submit financial transactions such as KB15N’s, journal entries, and non-payroll cost transfers as needed. Prepare and distribute Petty Cash checks and monthly reconciliation. Manage to the Sponsored Dashboard for Bayview on a monthly basis: Control Salary/Eforms/ Budget Distribution/Cash Deficit/FSR’s.  Reconcile Joint Agreement funds for Bayview Neurology on a monthly basis.  Maintain and set up parking for Department of Neurology Faculty.  Prepare and distribute annual faculty salary letters and update/maintain SOM annual faculty salary worksheet. Provide daily Financial Support to the Administrator of Neurology, Admin Managers, Staff, and Faculty

 

Financial: Responsible for generation and distribution of monthly reports for Bayview. Ensure expenditures for budgets are monitored and reports are prepared to maintain balanced accounts. Monitor, identify and communicate over expenditures to faculty, Division Director and Administrators so funding shortfalls maybe resolved. Monitor receipt of payments from sponsors. Verify documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies. Administer and manage the expenditure of funds to ensure that funds are expended according to sponsoring organizations stipulations and appropriate university guidelines. Communicate with appropriate internal and external administrative offices to ensure that established procedures are followed. Work with sponsored projects shared services to submit invoices and FSR’s. Act as a liaison between faculty member and ORA. Manage and report on the Hospital budget which includes clinic volumes.  Complete the annual Bayview hospital budget inclusive of clinic volumes, cost element reduction or increase, review of FTEs, promotions and/or adjustments.  Submit capital expenditure requests.  Complete the Departmental Dashboard, variance report and flex reports monthly. 

 

Payroll: Prepare and process payroll documents in order to correctly allocate faculty and staff salary support on grants, contracts, discretionary, general and clinical funds.

 

Administrative: Work in formal and informal forums with departmental personnel in issues related to Grant administration and financial management. Apply working knowledge of applicable laws and regulation; verify documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies. Identify weak or non-existent administrative processes and work with leadership to develop corrective action plans. Perform financial analysis and review procedures and systems to determine appropriate solutions. Help with posting of positions using Success Factors.

Minimum qualifications (mandatory):

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field.

Three years progressively responsible related experience. 

 

JHU Equivalency Formula:

 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Starting Salary Range: $49,216 - $67,735

Employee group: Full Time

Schedule: M-F 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
