HR Coordinator

General summary/purpose:

The HR Coordinator will assists the HR Generalist to ensure compliance with university policy and procedure. Individual acts independently in the resolution of human resource and payroll issues. Provides accurate, timely, routine customer focused HR support to division. Works to be viewed as a confidential, trusted, neutral resource for all HR matters. Handles all inquiries with a customer friendly attitude and will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day administrative functions of Radiology Human Resources. 

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Primary point of contact for employees (faculty, staff, student and post-doc fellows) for payroll.
  • Advises on payroll policies and procedures
  • Assures that payroll is processed timely and accurately
  • Prepares any payroll documents that are needed for all JHU Employees in the Department of Radiology
  • Maintains system to track faculty/staff payroll information and generate reports 
  • Responsible for handling all student requests and communication ensuring that all university requirements and payroll guidelines and deadlines have been met. Implements system and builds relationships with other resources not limited to the Shared Services, Payroll Office, Faculty Office and Post Doc Office to monitor/ resolve payroll issues: control salary, salary distribution/supplements/merit increases/terminate payroll
  • Responsible for the timely distribution of all payroll checks
  • Processes promotions, transfers, reclassifications, salary increases, bonus supplements, manage tracking for all SAP Internal Service Requests (ISR) 
  • Runs reports when necessary for credentialing team and managers
  • Work with the HR team members and the finance team in the department, to process all payroll changes including supplemental pay and ensuring that deadlines are met
  • Maintain and manage personnel files for all new hires and terminated employees.
  • Make sure all required documentation is in Radiology personnel files and kept up to date.
  • Handles supply ordering, invoices and expenses for Radiology HR
  • Schedules meetings, reserves conference rooms and orders food for HR functions
  • Monitors the Group HR email box
  • Will create JHED ID’s for new staff and handle I9’s when needed.
  • Responsible for putting hours in CATS for casual employees
  • Acts as a back up to E210 administration for the department
  • Acts as back up to FML process
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications:

Education: HS required, Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management or other related field preferred.  Additional related education may substitute for experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula.

Experience:  Three years of experience in an office setting required, previous experience in an HR setting a plus.  Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, Word. SAP experience a plus.  Work will be moderately supervised, but must have independent problem-solving skills.  Must be able to interact effectively with internal and external customers at all levels.

JHU Equivalency Formula:  30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.  For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.



Role/Level/Range: ATO/02/OE

Starting Salary Range:   $16.91-$23.25

Employee Group: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hrs/wk

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.


The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
