Housing Facilities Office Assistant


The Wolman Housing Facilities Office is seeking bright, outgoing, and organized candidate to assist the professional Facilities Office staff with summer projects, summer housing move-in and move-out, room key coordination, logistical coordination and supervision of student assistants.  The position is for 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday between the hours of Noon and 5 PM and should plan to be available May 15, 2019 through September 2, 2019.   

Candidates must be able to work Memorial Day (Summer Session 1 move-in weekend), July 4th (Summer Session 2 move-in) and Labor Day weekend (including Labor Day) to assist with residence hall and apartment move-in/Move-out. The candidate will provide general assistance to the Facilities Office, assisting with summer renovation project schedules, summer furniture order coordination and receiving.  Additionally, the candidate will provide general office support to include administrative tasks and clerical duties including assisting with supervision of student assistants. Responsibilities include, copying, faxing, filing, creating documents, assisting with housing/facilities work order management, escorting contractors, handling telephone calls, front office coverage, assisting with students, parents and staff questions and other duties as assigned.  Excellent customer service skills necessary as well as some knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.



High School Diploma/GED required. Candidates seeking employment with the Housing Office should be:

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.


The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
