Research Assistant

Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities were designed and implemented to assess the extent to which the 2018 Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) Summit achieved its goals and how the Summit can be improved in the future years. A short online survey was sent to Summit participants in which both close-ended and open-ended questions were asked. The Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will perform qualitative data analysis of open-ended survey responses and assist in producing both quantitative and qualitative tables, graphs, infographics, briefs or other information products.  This person will report to the Breakthrough ACTION Monitoring & Evaluation Advisor.

 

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Data Analysis

  • Code short answer free text responses (qualitative analysis) to four questions from online survey data (n=288) across respondent groups (e.g. employment sector)
  • Explore themes and patterns in qualitative data
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Presentation of Findings

  • Present findings in narrative form, tables, graphs, infographics, Powerpoint slide decks, briefs or other survey products as requested
  • Assist the Monitoring & Evaluation Advisor in triangulating findings from multiple data sources and producing narrative, tables, graphs, infographics Powerpoint slide decks, briefs or other survey products as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Qualitative data analysis experience

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related discipline and some related experience.Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

 

Preferred:

Masters Degree and three years of related experience. Previous experience analyzing qualitative data in Atlas.ti, Excel or other software,

coursework in monitoring and evaluation and experience in data visualization desired.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

 

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
