Staff Psychologist- ADHD Specialist

General Summary:

The Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center (CC) provides services to students in full-time graduate and undergraduate academic programs in the Schools of Arts and Sciences and Engineering, as well as the Peabody Institute of Music.

The Staff Psychologist – ADHD Specialist will operate as a generalist who provides a full range of clinical services including individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, outreach, consultation, supervision, and training and will also focus specifically on providing services for students with ADHD.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides assessment, counseling and psychotherapy, group counseling, daytime on-call coverage, after-hours on-call coverage (backup to ProtoCall Services Inc.), crisis intervention, clinical supervision, outreach, and consultation services to the university community.
  • Provides training and supervision to doctoral interns in our APA approved psychology internship program.
  • Provides individual counseling, workshops and group counseling with a focus on ADHD.
  • Reviews student documentation regarding ADHD diagnosis and treatment to determine if the documentation meets Counseling Center standards for eligibility to receive ADHD medication through the Counseling Center.
  • Maintains professional skills on clinical service delivery issues within the mental health field including the assessment and treatment of ADHD.

Education:

Doctorate in psychology is required. Must be eligible to be licensed as a psychologist in Maryland and obtain licensure within 2 years of hire.

Experience:

Experience working in a college or university counseling center and experience with the assessment and treatment of ADHD.

  • Possess the ability to work with a wide range of student issues in individual and group counseling, with special expertise and experience working with ADHD related issues.

  • Commitment to one’s own ongoing development of  multicultural competence as a psychologist.
  • Commitment to the developmental orientation of counseling services.

Starting Salary Range ($s): $59,159 - $81,406

Employee group: Full-time

Schedule (hours/days): Fall and Spring Semesters: Monday and Thursday- 8:30-6:00 PM; Tues, Weds, Fri- 8:30-5:00 PM

Intersession and Summer: Monday through Friday- 8:30-5:00 PM

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

 

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
