General Description

The Associate Director of Development will be responsible for raising funds in support of CTY’s priorities (access and inclusion, research, and advocacy for academically talented K-12 students) through the identification of potential donors and strategic collaboration with colleagues in development and across the organization. Meeting annual goals in dollars raised, proposals sent and visits made is expected.

Primary Duties

Identify high-end annual and major gift donors, primarily among CTY parents and alumni.

Maintain a portfolio of 100 annual and major gift prospects and conduct 120 visits annually.

Prepare major gift proposals, solicitation letters, and cultivation materials for donors.

Create a yearly, results-oriented work plan to efficiently manage gift prospects through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Collaborate with CTY staff on proposal development.

Substantially support the development and implementation of CTY’s strategic fundraising plan.

Schedule and arrange summer site visits with prospective and current donors.

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the field of gifted education, research areas, and funding priorities for CTY, along with general knowledge about the University.

Manage development tools such as Aladin, JHU's development database.

Qualifications

This position requires significant travel, primarily on the east and west coasts of the United States, for donor visits and parent gatherings.

Successful applicants will have excellent writing and communications skills, as well as the ability to independently organize and establish objectives and priorities within a busy department.

Bachelor’s degree is required, along with three to five years of professional development or related experience.

Candidates should have a strong interest in advancing CTY’s mission.
