The Johns Hopkins University, one of the world's premier teaching, research and patient care institutions, is seeking candidates for the position of Investment Operations Analyst  within its Investment Office, reporting directly to the Director of Operations. The Investment Office has responsibility for investing the endowments for the university, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and related endowed entities totaling more than $5 billion, among many other assets. Johns Hopkins University was founded in 1876 and is one of the world’s premier teaching and research institutions with nearly 22,000 students across nine academic divisions. Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

This individual will play an integral role on the Investment Operations team responsible for day-to-day execution of investment operations tasks supporting the overall efforts of the investment office. This individual will focus on the execution of core business processes related to transaction processing; trade settlement; reconciliation; manager communications and document management; investment closings; audit, tax, and compliance activities; and other projects as may be assigned from time to time. The Investment Operations Analyst will also be

expected to:


  • Monitor, process, and reconcile daily cash flows
  • Perform reconciliations; identify, research and resolve any discrepancies
  • Complete performance and market value updates within portfolio management system and track other quantitative and qualitative data fields for investments
  • Reconcile trade entry, accounting, and performance reporting systems
  • Monitor inbound communications and initiate related workflows and processes
  • Analyze, prepare and respond to inbound requests from JHU tax and audit offices
  • Maintain document management system
  • Complete subscription packages and new account set-up for investments



Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance or related field with proven academic excellence
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ work experience preferably in accounting/investment operations and trade settlement experience
  • Public accounting experience, custodian bank or prime broker operations experience preferred
  • CPA preferred

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
