Administrative Specialist

The Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology (MMI) is seeking an Administrative Specialist (AS) for its newly established Johns Hopkins Lyme and Tickborne Diseases Research and Education Institute (LTBDI). The impact of tick-borne diseases (TBD) on public health has been largely ignored, until recently. In addition to Lyme disease, other emerging TBD appear on the rise, including infections with Rickettsia, previously undetected species of Borrelia (B. miyamotoi). While reasons are likely manifold, climate change and a resulting increase in the geographical spread of ticks may contribute to these changes, as are human habitation in forested areas previously left untouched. The LTBDI is ideally positioned to rapidly support ramp-up of vital research into the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of TBD. The Administrative Specialist will provide high level administrative and sometimes confidential support for its director and its members.
