Assistant Director, Compliance (casual role)


General Description:

The University Financial Aid Administrator will assist the Director of University Financial Aid Compliance with various projects including but not limited to data preparation for foreign gifts reporting, internal audits, analysis of compliance reports, regulatory research and analysis, and implementation of a comprehensive training program.


Note: This position is not benefits eligible.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

University Financial Aid Administrator

  • The position is to support the Director of University Financial Aid Compliance with projects including preparing data for the biannual reporting of foreign gifts, internal audits, report review, regulatory research and analysis, and implementation of a comprehensive training program.
  • Data preparation for foreign gifts includes collecting and reviewing data, completing checklists, and identifying missing information.
  • Internal audits include the development of review checklists and procedures for selecting student samples.
  • Analyzing compliance reports to identify trends and conducting regulatory research to identify impact on university policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive financial aid training program.
  • Professional expectations include ensuring data is complete in time to meet January 31st and July 31st reporting deadlines for foreign gifts, developing comprehensive audit checklists, completing timely and comprehensive regulatory review and analysis, and effectively identifying training needs and developing comprehensive training materials.
  • Training will be directed by the Director of University Financial Aid Compliance.
  • Weekly supervision will be provided by the Director of University Financial Aid Compliance.



  • Bachelor’s Degree and one year of related experience required. 
  • Four years progressively responsible experience strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree and three years of relevant financial aid/Title IV experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Title IV reporting and training is preferred.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
