As part of the Doctoral Life Design team within Integrative Learning and Life Design, we are seeking an Assistant Director, Employer Partnerships & Experiential Learning who will report to the Director, Employer Partnerships and Experiential Learning. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the professional and personal futures of our doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows. Focusing on all students and postdocs, university wide, the Assistant Director will craft strategies that cultivate and expand employer partnerships, ensuring our scholars connect with top-tier opportunities.
Success will be measured against clear goals and Objectives and Key Results, aligning with the broader goals of the department and the university. This role is expected to be a key contributor to ensuring opportunities are available for students across all schools we serve. The role is expected to engage and liaise with university leadership, faculty, and department administrators.
The Assistant Director will lead the operational excellence of our internship and industry consulting project programs, managing logistics, facilitating student participation and engagement, assessing impact, enhancing program quality, and working collaboratively with the Director to manage key employer accounts.
As a top priority, the role will oversee the launch and growth of the industry consulting projects initiative. These projects represent a unique opportunity for doctoral scholars to gain skills and expertise through consulting on strategic challenges with our employer partners. This program represents a strategic initiative intended to significantly increase doctoral access to experiential learning.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate and oversee industry consulting projects, including project scoping, student matching, and ensure group progress toward agreed-upon deliverables to ensure client satisfaction.
- Serve as a key account manager for active employer partnerships, working with partners to scope industry projects, create job descriptions, and facilitate high-quality experiential opportunities.
- Partner with the Director to strategize on key accounts leading to the renewal and growth industry consulting projects and internship opportunities.
- Leads the operational excellence of internship and industry consulting project programming, including managing logistics, facilitating student participation and placements, assessing program impact, and implementing changes that enhance program quality.
- Promotes internship partnerships through targeted outreach, marketing, and collaboration with campus stakeholders, driving increased student engagement and applications.
- Regularly checks in on internship, fellowship, and experiential learning placements to ensure positive student and organizational experience, resolving concerns or disputes in collaboration with the Director.
- Designs and administers experiential learning surveys for organizations and students, analyzes feedback, and implements program improvements based on key insights.
- Manages the tracking, documentation, and secure storage of student and employer agreements, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and legal requirements.
- Oversees the processing and disbursement of student payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with institutional financial policies.
- Plans, coordinates, and supports employer events including signature events, industry days, and career fairs.
- Supports digital engagement efforts by leveraging social media and other platforms to promote experiential learning programs, increase student participation, and strengthen employer connections.
- Engages with the broader JHU community to connect and collaborate on key employer relationships and events.
- Provides support for special projects and strategic initiatives related to experiential learning and student success.
- Gather, analyze, and share data and insights related to employer engagement, experiential learning, events, student participation, hiring rates, and overall program effectiveness.
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
- Experience coordinating programs, managing logistics, or supporting student/employer engagement initiatives.
- Experience with [Handshake, Salesforce, Qualtrics, or relevant platforms] is beneficial.
- Proven ability to engage and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring sustained collaboration and growth.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree.
- Three (3) years of experience within a higher education, government, non-profit, or corporate setting.
- Additional related education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, as permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
