Assistant Director, ICTR Stakeholder Engagement

 

General Summary/Purpose

 

The Assistant Director for Stakeholder Engagement will lead stakeholder engagement activities for Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) Community and Collaboration Core. S/he will participate in conducting community-engaged research, working alongside community residents, leaders of local community-based organizations and local health systems, and frontline social service and clinical staff to develop, implement, and evaluate innovative initiatives to advance community engagement research within the ICTR.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities: 

 

Working closely with the Core’s leadership and other partners in the ICTR, s/he will co-develop and implement engagement plans for Core’s stakeholder engagement events and research projects.

Working closely with the Core’s leadership and other partners in the ICTR, s/he will co-develop and implement evaluation strategies to strengthen the ICTR infrastructure to support the execution of best practices for community-engaged research and rigorous evaluation of both our approach to community engagement, and the impact of community engagement on institutional and external stakeholders.

S/he will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders, funding agencies, and community groups.

S/he will work with the community advisory board chairs to coordinate the community advisory board meetings and ongoing community engagement/ outreach efforts and to support positive, productive connections between the ICTR leaders, investigators, trainees and extensive ICTR network of community partners.

S/he will establish, monitor, and provide oversight of the Community Engaged Research Pilot Grant Program.

S/he will develop appropriate engagement success metrics and benchmarks and provide relevant reporting to key stakeholders and the Core’s leadership on an ongoing basis.

S/he will be responsible for developing and executing the dissemination strategy for the Core’s stakeholder engagement activities and related projects including funded studies directly linked to the Core’s community funding program or consultation, community events, and research training. Dissemination activities include web/digital information: webpages, social media, email newsletters, blog posts, multimedia; manuscripts and professional publications; publicity pieces and press releases; and lay summaries.

S/he will oversee and assist with administrative functions such as Core budget reconciliation, development of policies and procedures of the Core and drive continuous improvement in consistent use of standard operating procedures.

S/he will assist with grant preparation and reporting.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in related field.

  • Five (5) years of experience in strategic oversight of community engagement initiatives, collaboration with diverse stakeholder groups, and event / conference planning.  
  • Supervisory: Two (2)years of direct management experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with research grants and contracts & implementation.

Effective in meeting deadlines with management and stakeholders. Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills and friendly demeanor. Leadership, coaching and team building skills to strengthen and cultivate relationships. Excellent project management and organizational skills: ability to plan and manage multiple projects / events simultaneously. The successful applicant will demonstrate an ability to work well with other professionals and community partners. Ability and willingness to travel to event locations.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

 

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
