Assistant Director Recruitment

We are seeking an Assistant Director of Recruitment. The Assistant Director of School Recruitment is responsible for day-to-day management of staff, design and implementation of recruitment activities in targeted areas in the United States and Canada. This position serves as the primary contact for school counselors, administrators, and prospective families. The position will work to establish new and enhance current relationships with school administrators, associations and organizations to develop and maintain a pipeline of leads and applicants. Working closely with the Director of Recruitment, Partnerships and Teacher Development, the Assistant Director will design recruitment activities to increase new student membership, enrollment and B2B contracts from targeted areas in online and summer courses.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing and implementing an outcome driven recruitment strategy and tactics for targeted areas to increase leads and new student enrollment.
  • Manage and lead two Recruitment Coordinators, including training, performance management and consistent evaluation.
  • Provide oversight of recruitment and enrollment processes to ensure quality control over information and other deliverables produced within assigned functions.
  • Establish and manage productive relationships with schools, districts and partner organizations in targeted areas.
  • Communicate effectively to new families about CTY programs and opportunities.
  • Respond to telephone, written and in-person inquiries promptly.
  • Develop, execute and monitor B2B agreements with schools and partners leading to new student enrollment and meet revenue goals.
  • Maintain the recruitment calendar to communicate recruitment priorities with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Foster careful stewardship of prospective students, families and school counselors through effective use of a CRM solution and targeted communication strategies
  • Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from information meetings, open house events, conference attendance and various recruitment events.
  • Collect, analyze and present quantitative data on conversion rate of leads and applicants by school and region to inform recruitment tactics.
  • Collaborate with Program Officer, Teacher Development to expand offering to schools in targeted areas.
  • Utilizing advanced analytical skills to create reports to make data driven decisions for new student recruitment and program enrollment.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management, Online and On-campus programs on policies and procedures affecting B2B admission processes and requirements.
  • Effectively manage expense reports per JHU policy for assigned staff.
  • Work closely and in collaboration with Assistant Director of International Recruitment, and Program Officer, Teacher Development to meet enrollment goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Intercultural communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel across the United States and select countries.
  • Must be able to work competently with Microsoft office 365 and other desktop applications.
  • Admission database and software applications.


Supervisory Responsibility

  • Position oversees two exempt staff and casual staff pool.
  • Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.



Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree.
  • Five years' experience teaching college or pre-college, residential life, professional camping, or other relevant academic administrative functions.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Four years of progressive experience in recruitment and admission.
  • Four years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in recruitment and admission CRM solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to support multiple projects under potentially conflicting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, motivate others and manage interpersonal situations.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • University recruitment and admission travel experience.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
