Assistant Manager Food Service Systems

We are seeking an Assistant Manager Food Service Systems. The Assistant Manager Food Service Systems will play an integral role in supporting Dining’s food service operations systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the systems’ functionality, connectivity and service response management. This position administers critical information technology systems for Hopkins Dining, including but not limited to meal plan and campus funds (JCash and dining dollars) management, food production management, and point-of-sale hardware and software. Additionally, they will manage all technology interfaces between the associated technologies. The Assistant Manager Food Service Systems serves as a systems expert for Hopkins Dining.

The Assistant Manager Food Service Systems will support the Food Service Systems Manager to ensure campus point of sale (POS) systems accurately reflect pricing and menus, works in support of the meal plan management system, digital menu, feedback, meal plan management systems and assists in participation and usage reporting for the department.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Systems Administration 80%

  • Administers all Hopkins Dining point-of-sale systems. Serves as a Systems expert for Hopkins Dining. Modifies configurations to meet Dining operational needs.
  • Administers mobile on-line purchases interface with POS software.
  • Manages meal plan administration system including development of new plans, upload and assignment of student meal plans and support integration with housing student management system.
  • Management of software updates and changes supporting each of the systems. These include but are not limited to, Point of Sale system, meal plan administration system, food management system. Menu Interface system for Digital Marketing, training system, catering systems, other internal support systems.
  • Supports utilization of catering and training platforms; coordinates with respective management teams.
  • Supports inventory management of all related hardware.
  • Participates in evaluating new technologies for Hopkins Dining; researches and recommends new modules, hardware and technology.
  • Collaborates with technical and operational staff in the implementation of new systems and application upgrades, conducts tests.
  • Be able to leverage technologies, including enhancements to POS, and will look for opportunities to maximize efficiencies including being flexible and receptive to new ideas and/or approaches.
  • Remain current with pertinent operations standards or practices including payment processing, networking connectivity.

Training 10%

  • Support training for management team on end-user functions of operations systems.
  • Development of training materials to support new team members and continued education for the management team.

Controls 10%

  • Serves as liaison to the Student Services IT team, campus networking and central IT, supporting regular or scheduled reporting to finance and senior management teams.
  • Ensure that all security, safety and sanitation standards are achieved.
  • Employ good safety and sanitation practices.
  • Maintain all elements of FSS data including menu ingredients, recipes, units of measure, naming, ordering, waste reporting, and inventory recording.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • One year of related experience required.
  • Additional education may substitute for experience and additional experience may substitute for education in accordance to the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Systems management experience, preferably with point of sale or meal plan administration systems.
  • Experience with Transact Campus suite including Transact Enterprise or Quadpoint management.
  • Prior food service experience in academic setting and/or experience using automated food management systems, or other Food Management software is helpful.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
