Athletic Facilities & Operations Manager


General Summary:

A specialized position to support the Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities & Events and Game Operations team in all aspects of athletic facilities and varsity athletic game operations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with the management of all indoor and outdoor athletic facilities.
  • Manage assigned buildings and maintenance projects.
  • In conjunction with assistant directors, act as game operations manager for regular and post-season varsity events.
  • Act as event manager for any outside special or contracted events including summer camps and clinics.
  • In conjunction with assistant directors, act as point-of-contact for preparation and game management of all home football and men’s lacrosse games.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of assigned storage facilities.
  • Manage athletic-facility-related inventory and equipment.
  • Assist Assistant Director of Athletic Facilities & Events in management of online scheduling software.
  • Oversight of athletic facility operations employees (3 full-time bargaining unit).
  • Be able to work nights and week-ends, and be on-call for emergency situations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Special Skills and Knowledge:

  • Candidate must have excellent work organization and interpersonal communication skills and have the ability to work well with others in an extremely fast-paced, competitive and growing athletics program. Nights and weekends required. Ability to work non-traditional hours and be on-call is a must



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management or related field required.



  • Three years of related Athletics facilities experience is required. Additional experience preferred.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.


The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
