Business Development Associate
Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV) supports the commercialization of university technology through (a) technology licensing, (b) the development of corporate research collaborations and (c) venture creation.
We are seeking a Business Development Associate who will support industry alliance management and partnering efforts for the JHTV Corporate Partnerships team. Responsibilities include managing the relationships and contractual obligations between the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and third-party partners that arise from strategically important research collaborations. The Business Development Associate will work closely with external partners, inventors, and internal groups to coordinate post-deal compliance and research obligations. The Business Development Associate will create and maintain complex project plans and project activities, coordinate alliance team meetings, and prepare annual reports. This position reports to the Director, Corporate Partnerships.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Supports management of large-scale industry collaborations and agreements including overseeing deliverables and maintaining partnerships.
- Coordinates matters relating to managed collaborations including scheduling and managing committee meetings, ensuring compliance with all aspects of the alliance agreements, and overseeing the completion of any required third-party agreements to support the research.
- Tracks administrative matters relating to the RFPs for projects and research programs, once launched.
- Sources faculty, technologies and research programs to be presented as potential research projects for industry collaborations.
- Developing programming for business development events and organizing visits by industry partners.
- Supports JHTV Corporate Partnerships sourcing, pitching, lead generation, and outreach efforts.
- Maintains records of industry engagement in customer relational database and proactively markets inventions to appropriate contacts.

- Ability to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously and to meet various concurrent deadlines.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of industry and colleagues.
- Highly organized, resourceful, and detail oriented.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with various software applications (e.g. spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical and graphic packages), to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports. Experience with Salesforce preferable.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in life or physical science.
- Two (2) years or more business development experience in industry.

Preferred Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident required due to Federal Export Controls.
- Master's Degree in life or physical science or MBA with experience in technology commercialization.
