General Description


The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine is seeking a Clinical Associate to provide anesthetic care to patients in the operating room, endoscopy suites and interventional radiology. Physician on-call duties are also included. Practice model comprises both solo work, as well as CRNA and resident supervision.

This is a non-faculty, senior staff position in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, working as an attending anesthesiologist with a medical staff appointment at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide and facilitate perioperative evaluation and care of patients, and ensure the provision of the highest quality care. Provide anesthesiology services primarily at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Centers. Exercise medical judgment consistent with approved anesthesiology methods and practices and in the best interest of the patients.

Provide expert knowledge, skills, and clinical services in teaching of medical students and training of residents and supervision of CRNAs.

Complete medical records attendant to the performance of direct patient care, including but not limited to, the timely and accurate of preparation of billing forms, completion of patient notes detailing services provided and billed and other required documentation. Responsible for the completion of all appropriate forms and records and compliance with preoperative/intraoperative and postoperative policies.



M.D. Degree. Licensure by State of Maryland Board of Physicians. DEA Certification and Sate of Maryland Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Certification. Credentialed at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and related hospitals as necessary. DEA license. Computer utilization and reading. EPIC training preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Sitting for extended period of time. Standing for extended periods of time in support of clinical operations. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction in support of clinical operations. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s). Ability to move standard equipment through a hospital or clinical environment.

  • The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
