Clinical Nurse Manager

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager who will be responsible for directing, organizing and supervising the work of the nursing staff of an independent oncology practice and infusion center at Green Spring Station. Position reports to the Medical Director and the Sr. Administrative Manager. Responsibilities include coordinating nursing efforts to ensure the effective patient care is being provide and that quality standards are met, including providing nursing coverage.


Evaluate the performance of the nursing staff, provide feedback and mentoring, develop education programs, contribute to staff professional development, interviewing and hiring nurses. Will serve as a representative, on behalf of the nursing staff to promote the best interests of the nurses and the patients. Contributes to continuous process improvements and works with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement and evaluate programs and services. Collaborates with finance and business personnel to improve patient, financial and care processes and outcomes.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to other nurses.
  • Ensure nursing is properly trained.
  • Oversees daily infusion operations of services to ensure safe, efficient and effective patient care.
  • Assigns patient care to promote the achievement of clinical outcomes.
  • Direct patient care based on the nursing process and mentors and manages others to promote quality and excellence of care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary health care team to optimize team performance.
  • Promote improvements in treatment area processes and cost-effective use of resources.
  • Address any personnel issues to promote a productive and supportive work environment.
  • Identifies impending changes in patient condition and individual performance issues.
  • Analyzes patient care data to deliver and evaluate care.
  • Directs and implements counseling, discipline, and performance management of nursing staff.
  • Monitors nursing staff compliance to service excellence standards.
  • Projects volume and demand for resources and makes necessary changes for recommendations.


Competencies

  • Advanced knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and research commensurate with an advanced degree in nursing.
  • Knowledge of nursing process, social, behavioral, biological and physical science, along with leadership, business and managerial theories and concepts.
  • Knowledge of current health care environment, including environment, clinical, economic and policy trends.
  • Ability to analyze data to synthesize and summarize information and make judgments regarding patient care.
  • Highly effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships that foster optimal quality working relationships.
  • CPR and AED certified.
  • Ability to properly conduct general physiologic monitoring and patient care equipment such as an EKG.
  • Accountable authority for decisions regarding patient care.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Individual must be a registered nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field required. Master's Degree in Nursing or business administration preferred.
  • Minimum of three years clinical nursing experience
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
