Facilities Coordinator


General Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Construction, Space and Planning, this position is responsible for assisting with the management and maintenance of all non-residential buildings and non-athletic spaces that fall under Student Services on the Homewood campus (7 student services buildings and offices in 4 other buildings).  This position will also support the maintenance of Homewood’s 80 general pool classrooms as instructed by the Director of Construction, Space and Planning and the Registrar’s office.  Additionally this role provides logistical support for small scale moves and provides administrative support to the Director of Construction, Space and Planning.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Work directly with Plant Operations and Custodial Services to ensure that all non-residential and non-athletic spaces on the Homewood campus and controlled by Student Services are clean and well-maintained, including all work orders for both emergency and non-emergency repairs. 
  • This role will specifically be accountable for Union spaces (Levering Hall Union, Mattin Center and the Lab), and will coordinate with Student Services directors/other admins on other spaces occupied by Student Services (e.g., Mason, Garland, Wyman, various Student Services buildings and offices on Charles Street, etc.)
  • Work directly with Dean of Student Life staff and JHFRE to make aesthetic enhancements to Levering Hall Union.
  • Regularly communicate with the Office of JHUnions & Programming regarding the condition and maintenance of student union spaces.
  • Support the logistics of small scale moves of Student Services staff, e.g. coordinate phone transfers, furniture order, carpentry and paint tickets, etc.
  • Place orders for the maintenance of 80 general pool classrooms, e.g. order projectors, place tickets for repairs.
  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment. Identify issues and initiate repairs, either by completing repair or requesting assistance.
  • Report directly to and provide administrative support to the Director of Construction, Space and Planning.
  • Assist in maintaining the space inventory for Student Services.
  • Fill in for the Director of Construction, Space and Planning in meetings as requested when the Director is unable to attend.
  • Process daily transactions related to operations of the Construction, Space and Planning (e.g. online check requests, non-payroll cost transfers, travel and expense reimbursements, petty cash transactions, shopping carts, Pcard transactions).
  • Monitor capital projects using Analysis reporting; produce reports for Director as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • High School Diploma/GED required.



  • Three years related experience required.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.


The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
