General Summary/Purpose

 

Applies accounting principles for managing PM&R funds. Process purchase orders, expense reimbursements, and account payable transactions. Assist in the development of departmental and sponsored budgets. Participate in the gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and preparation of financial plans, budgets, cash flow projections, and operating forecasts.

Applies knowledge of procedures to review and record eforms for personnel activities of individuals compensated through non-sponsored and federally-funded projects. Audit and reconcile payroll transactions • Ensure sound records management for all personnel files.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

 

Account Payable:  Process and verify vendor invoices, online payments, purchase orders and travel reimbursements for completeness, compliance, and apply charges to appropriate accounts. Administer the expenditure of funds, ensuring that funds are expended according to sponsoring organization's stipulations and appropriate university guidelines.

 

Purchasing: Process and monitor purchase requests. Monitor expenditures throughout the budgetary period. Monitor, identify, and communicate over expenditures to finance manager

 

Budget and account analysis:  Assist financial manager identify budget issues, provide alternative solutions. Generate HR/Payroll/Disbursement related reports from SAP Business Warehouse / Analysis to support analysis and provide information to Director of Business Operation and Sr. Financial Analyst. Gather data and compile information using databases and SAP to generate ad hoc reports as necessary.  Provide assistance with budget variance reports Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or other related field.
  • Three years progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience.
  • Additional experience may substitute for education. Additional graduate level education may substitute for experience.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

 

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
