Financial Project Manager

IT@JH Administration and Finance is seeking a Financial Project Manager who supports the development, reporting and design of Johns Hopkins Information Technology budgets. This includes the development of new budget models, reporting and collection tools. This position is supervised by the Assistant Director of Planning and Budget.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Project Managing

  • Develop project plans in accordance with Johns Hopkins University and Health System budget guidelines, communicating progress through roadmap and schedule.
  • Develop process improvements to proactively support enhanced reporting to internal Information Technology stakeholders and other Johns Hopkins stakeholders.

Requirements Gathering

  • Identifies, engages, and collaborates with key stakeholders from new centers of excellence.
  • Defines operational and financial key performance indicators (KPIs) & gathers reporting requirements.

Design and Development

  • Initiates and assists with gathering & automating data collection for new and current budget costs.
  • Assists with developing dashboards representing operational and financial performance: changing data inputs, data transformation, and data output.
  • Assists with other gathering and automation efforts in support of other department goals.

Testing and Documentation

  • Leads validating process of dashboard output, coordinating with and involving key stakeholders as necessary.
  • Leads validation of budget template and supporting input files and processes, coordinating with, and involving key stakeholders as necessary.
  • Maintain documentation materials that serve as technical and/or end-user references.

Implementation, Maintenance and Analysis

  • Provide basic support for dashboards developing, triaging and resolving simple issues to ensure prompt and effective service
  • Analyzes and investigates causes for changes in KPIs

  • Must be able to work closely with customers, understand, and translate their functional needs into technical requirements.
  • Ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines.
  • Able to coordinate the work of a diversified staff in various environments.
  • Demonstrates advanced communication, interpersonal skills, and political savvy to effectively interface with leadership across the Hopkins Enterprise.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, healthcare administration or related field.
  • Five years related financial experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Possesses knowledge of corporate finance as it relates to all budget processes, cost accounting principles, monthly financial reporting, sponsored projects accounting including grant submissions.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP accounting system practice and implementation within the Johns Hopkins environment desirable.
  • Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel (able to create complex/multifaceted formulas, develop complex workbooks, generate macros, etc.)
  • Brings experience developing reports in Tableau.
  • Experience writing SQL queries.
  • Experience with EPSi budgeting tool.
  • Project management, customer service experience.

Starting Salary Range: $71,230 - $97,880 (Commensurate with experience)
