Human Resources Services Supervisor - Projects Team

HR Shared Services is responsible for all employee life cycle and organizational management transactions for Johns Hopkins University, Hospitals and Health Systems. The department supports 3 pay cycles and over 150,000 transactions annually. We are seeking a Human Resources Services Supervisor - Projects Team responsible for oversight related to functional SAP processes and procedures, SAP updates and business process changes. This role will also represent HR Shared Services in large scale project initiatives related to SAP functionality.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for directly supervising assigned members of the team, including performance management, goal setting, mentoring, skills development, work assignments and overall resource allocation to ensure that required operational needs are met.
  • Oversees members of the Projects Team, including System Specialists and Business Analysts.
  • Directs the HRSS project planning process to build understanding and adoption planning. Provides input and guidance from the end-user perspective.
  • Oversees the stakeholder analysis process and impact assessment with HRSS Management team to accurately identify stakeholder groups that are impacted by change and to ensure that change management plans are targeted correctly; utilizes presentations and
  • Implement improvements to HR Shared Services procedures and processing methods to efficiently and accurately meet production and performance goals as established by the HRSS Service Level Agreement.
  • Ensure customer service standards are routinely followed and establish improvements as needed.
  • Determine work priorities and assignments for the most efficient use of staff and equipment.
  • Serve as an SAP HR subject matter expert to HR Shared Services customer base.
  • Provide feedback to team members promptly to increase their effectiveness.
  • Responsible for hiring, training and supporting new HRSS staff.
  • Respond timely to new processing requirements from HR centers of expertise.
  • discussions at stakeholder and user meetings, email communication and other channels to gather additional input and inform plans.
  • Collaborates with SAP HR Technical team (Enterprise Business Solutions) and divisional HR offices to identify necessary organizational change management activities and incorporates them as critical milestones/dependencies in project plans.
  • Ensures that ongoing support is transitioned appropriate to HRSS teams, following project implementation. Ensures needed documentation and training is in place for these teams.
  • Oversees the process of maintaining system protocols, led by Business Services Analysts, including writing and updating procedures and assisting with training staff and customers as needed.
  • Ensures that all support packs and testing initiatives related to the SAP system are managed appropriately
  • Ensures that internal HRSS resources are utilized appropriately, in relation to projects and business process changes.
  • Collaborates across members of the HRSS team to ensure proactive and viable solutions are identified, to address more complex business issues.
  • Establish and deliver internal knowledge building meetings with HR Shared Services teams.
  • Provide procedural guidance and policy interpretation to staff as it relates to processing HR transactions.
  • Assess the accuracy and integrity of HR master data and ensure that integrity is maintained through auditing and reporting.
  • Ensure that strong relationships are created and managed within HR Shared Services and with the customer base.
  • Participate in project meetings for enhancements to SAP HR functionality and other HR systems that integrate with SAP.
  • Create a work environment that maintains confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR, HRIS business, or related field.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in business (accounting, management), human resources or management information systems.
  • Two years of direct supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Two or more years of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Five years of SAP experience within a shared services or customer service environment may be substituted for supervisory experience.
  • A master’s degree or additional ERP experience may be substituted for supervisory experience.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
