Interviewer
The department of Health Behavior & Society is seeking an Interviewer who will contribute to the field activities for an ongoing community health project that measures prevalence of HIV, health and social issues, health-related behaviors and access to services among people who use drugs in the Baltimore metro region. The RPA will participate in data collection activities, including consent procedures, participant screening, and interviewing using computerized interviewing tools.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Recruitment and enroll research participants.
- Data collection activities such as participant screening, obtaining informed consent, conducting interviews.
- Use computerized interviewing tools.
- HIV counseling and testing.
- Providing referrals to care.
- Proficiency in computer systems and electronic communications.

- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and ability to work well in an unstructured environment as well as part of a team.
- Maintain flexibility to respond to multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated experience with study population and/or other marginalized and diverse populations.
- Familiarity with or interest in harm reduction and public health approaches to drug use and related risk reduction.
- Understanding of data collection processes.
- Ability to interact with a variety of people.
- Experience recruiting and interviewing study participants.
- Comfortable with data entry and able to adapt to new software with appropriate training.
- Able to occasionally work flexible hours to accommodate protocol needs.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent, with some college courses preferred.
- Some related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with research or data collection activities preferred.
- Maryland HIV pre- and post-test counseling certification preferred.
- Experience with computers and data collection technologies preferred.
- Prior experience with study populations and/or other diverse populations preferred.
- Able to occasionally work flex hours preferred.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00am-5:00pm, possibly one weekday evening with extended hours to 7pm, possibly some Saturdays 9am-12pm
