Research Assistant
We are seeking a Research Assistant. The Historical Trauma Curriculum Integration Research Assistant position will support the Center for Indigenous Health (CIH)/Ojibwe team in integrating HT content into the Ojibwe Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) curriculum. The Research Assistant will focus on actionable recommendations and real-world examples to ensure that the curriculum is trauma-informed, community-driven, strengths-based, and feasible to implement.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
This role will involve three core components
- Delivering a presentation on American Indian/Alaska Native (AIAN) HT Interventions to the CIH/Ojibwe team.
- Creating a pragmatic toolkit to guide the integration of HT themes into AIAN community health programs.
- Providing ongoing consultation throughout the curriculum development process on an as-needed basis.
Additional
- Adapt and deliver the capstone literature review presentation, Historical Trauma and Collective Healing in North American Indigenous Communities, to a CIH/Ojibwe audience. While the presentation should include background on the capstone literature review and the topic of HT, it should focus on pragmatic recommendations for integrating HT into the Ojibwe SNAP-Ed program.
- Develop a detailed, actionable toolkit for integrating HT into AIAN community-based health programs. The toolkit should reflect key findings and recommendations from the capstone literature review. The toolkit should include,
- Practical examples of how workshops can incorporate HT content
- Guidance on creating a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed learning environment
- Recommendations for maintaining a community-driven, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach
- Strategies for addressing common challenges (e.g., participant absences)
- As needed, provide ongoing consultation to support integration of HT content in the SNAP-Ed curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in public health.
- Literature Review: Ability to conduct comprehensive literature reviews to identify relevant theories, methodologies, and findings.
- Familiar with Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis.
