Research Assistant
The Program in Implementation and Equity Research (PIER) within the Center for Public Health and Human Rights in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant with a strong interest in HIV research and quantitative skills. They will be responsible for conducting cost effectiveness analyses of ongoing research activities. Research projects will be focused on the team’s Southern Africa-based portfolio including an NIH-funded R01 focused on PrEP service delivery for young women. The ideal candidate will have an interest in economic evaluation, and supporting the development of methods and tools to advance HIV and implementation science to address the health and rights of key populations, and will have an interest in leading analyses and publications.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean, manage, and analyze quantitative data using statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SAS).
- Conduct micro costing and cost-effectiveness analyses of HIV prevention interventions.
- Support preparation of reports and deliverables for funders and collaborators.
- Lead or contribute to the writing of manuscripts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in related discipline (public health, epidemiology).
- Proficiency in R and RStudio, STATA, or SAS.
- Formal coursework in economic evaluation and experience in analyzing Implementation Science data.
- Statistical background and knowledge of statistical methods.
- Good communication skills with the ability to communicate findings.
- Prior collaborative research experience a plus.
- Experience/knowledge of cost-effectiveness evaluation strategies and approaches.
- Experience working with HIV implementation programs, economic evaluation and/or program evaluation and data management.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, including timely responsiveness to communications in person and by email.
