Research Assistant
The Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering (WSE) is seeking a Research Assistant in the Malone Center for Engineering in Healthcare. Under the supervision of a faculty investigator, the Research Assistant will conduct research, execute coding tasks, analyze data, collaborate with research partners, and assist with writing research papers. The Research Assistant will focus on developing and testing statistical methods for evaluation of clinical and biological data, including modeling aging and disease trajectories of patients as part of an interdisciplinary research team. This position is expected to last approximately ten months.
Specific duties & responsibilities:
- Perform research in the areas of clinical and genomic data analysis.
- Implement, run, and evaluate machine learning and statistical techniques.
- Work with a collaborative team including clinicians and computational researchers.
- Read and apply understanding of relevant current literature.
- When the research projects in the above directions require it, collect and analyze corresponding data sets, generate data through computer simulations, and write code for the analysis of data sets by implementing the statistical techniques developed in the research phase.
- Assist with the writing and editing of abstracts and manuscripts.
- Present research projects and their results at meetings.
- Assist with tasks on other research projects as required.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related disciplines such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or Computational Biology.
- Some coding knowledge
- Previous research in relevant fields (genomics, clinical data analysis, statistics)
- Experience with Python, R, or similar languages.
