Research Progam Manager

The Department of Epidemiology is seeking a Research Program Manager (RPM) to work as an integral part of a large children's health cohort study. This individual will work with the Principal Investigator (PI) and Director to assist in the management and coordination of research activities for a Data Analysis Center. Specifically, the Research Program Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination and management of data harmonization efforts. The Research Program Manager will supervise several staff members.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the steps of data harmonization to ensure smooth and timely processing.
  • Provide weekly updates to PI and other key stakeholders on data harmonization status.
  • Make strategic recommendations and implement decisions to meet project goals.
  • Maintenance of the data harmonization report template and instructions.
  • Assist with the coordination and prioritization of various research activities.
  • Supervise one or more members of the research team.
  • Generate reports for presentations and professional meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with principal investigators and collaborators to review data harmonization and data analysis progress.
  • Establish regular communication systems between study components.
  • Oversee program evaluation activities.
  • Assure project management tasks are completed (i.e. prioritize, timeliness, milestones, monitoring, status).
  • Assist with preparation of grant proposals, IRB proposals, peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference presentations, and progress reports to funding agencies and other stakeholders.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline. Related Master's preferred.
  • Five years related experience, including demonstrated supervisory or lead responsibilities.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree or higher in Epidemiology or Public Health preferred (or related field)

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
