Research Program Assistant II
The Department of Epidemiology is seeking a Research Program Assistant II (RPAII). This position will be responsible for overseeing recruitment, scheduling, and field site activities for an ongoing community health project. This position will work closely with the Research Program Manager in managing participant flow, scheduling appointments, interacting with study participants, implementing field site safety precautions, and ensuring protocol compliance for participant interactions. Additional duties may include the provision of referrals, participation in data collection activities, and administrative tasks.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Interacting with study participants or potential study participants.
- Ensuring adherence to study protocols for participant recruitment, scheduling, data collection, specimen collection and storage, and referrals to health and social services.
- Establishing and ensuring field site safety and welcoming procedures.
- Supply management.
- Active participation in all study meetings and providing updates on study protocol implementation and study operations.
- Staff training and oversight during data collection.
- Active participation in data collection activities, including consent procedures, participant screening, scheduling, interviewing using computerized interviewing tools, and HIV counseling and testing.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and ability to work well in an unstructured environment as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and protocol adherence, while maintaining flexibility to respond to multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated experience with study population and/or other marginalized and diverse populations.
- Familiarity with or interest in harm reduction and public health approaches to drug use and related risk reduction.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to interact with a variety of people.
- Proficiency in computer systems and electronic communications.
- Able to occasionally work flexible hours to accommodate protocol needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Two years related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
