Research Program Assistant
Research Administration is seeking a Research Program Assistant who will be able to perform the laboratory protocols and various research activities of Dr. Gill’s program of research, including laboratory and clinical activities.
Along with other members of the study team the research assistant will be trained on precise pipetting assay completion, data collection and analysis in support of the PI, postdoc, research or administrative staff.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Will be trained to perform various research protocols and assays within the laboratory including precise pipetting techniques, miRNA extraction, sweat extraction, blood processing protocols, and assay analysis across multiple instruments within the laboratory.
- Will keep a laboratory notebook for data tracing, reproducibility, and proper research documentation techniques.
- Follow SOPs for laboratory safety and operational purposes.
- Will be trained to properly analyze and interpret data using various relevant computer software applications and aid in preparation of summaries of laboratory findings in final form for publication in reports and papers to be presented at scientific meetings or publication in scientific journals.
- This employee will participate in various research projects and collaborations, performing proper analysis on samples with necessary assays as defined by research protocols.
- Conduct library research and aid in preparing manuscripts, scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication. Prepare material for journal articles and grant proposals.

- Work, volunteer, and/or life experience working with medical data.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent verbal/written communication skills and self-motivation is critical.
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills required.
- Must be able to work independently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Must be able to interact effectively with study participants and coworkers from diverse backgrounds.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Some related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college courses or bachelor’s Degree in related discipline preferred.
- Proficiency in excel, word preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $15.25 - $23.00 HRLY ($18,881 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
Employee group: Casual / On Call
Schedule: Flexible Mon-Fri, some evenings may be required. Up to 20 hrs per week.
