Research Program Assistant
The Division of Pulmonary is seeking a casual Research Program Assistant. This candidate will be involved in data collection, data entry, and data management functions in a research program.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect data via abstraction from paper and electronic medical records.
- Maintain logs of patient screening, treatments, and visits.
- Data entry, management, and calculations using a computerized database, word processing, and spreadsheet software; review data input for accuracy and completeness.
- Anticipate and respond to program needs based on awareness of routine and repeated job functions.
- Actively communicate and update supervising coordinators, collaborators, administrators, clinicians, and/or and program leaders on patient enrollment/treatment/eligibility and data collection status via verbal and written communication.
- Identify appropriate patients for clinical program.
- Communicate with program sponsors, coordinators and collaborators as needed.
- Maintain filing system for electronic and paper-based patient records.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Attend regular group meetings (weekly or monthly).
- Obtain consent and HIPAA approvals from eligible patients.
- Administer standardized surveys to patients or their proxies via phone, or via in-patient, clinic or home visits.
- Enter study data into database and run routine queries of the data.
- Call patients with reminders of their appointments.
- Conduct standardized assessments of patients via in-patient, clinic or home visit.
- Escort patients through the hospital during any visit.
- Set up and take down equipment for patient testing.
- Literature search & organize data for program-related reports and papers.
- Prepare study documents for IRB submission, as needed.
- Organize and file patient records; prepare and maintain program materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Occasional weekend hours may be required to accommodate study participant preferences.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent, with some college courses preferred
- Some related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college courses.
- Experience in using a personal computer.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Highly attentive to detail and deadlines.

Starting Salary Range: $15.40 - $23.25 HRLY ($25,355.20 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

Schedule: Monday- Friday, Hours Vary
