Research Program Assistant
We are seeking a Research Program Assistant to be a part of the research team in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. This position will be involved in data collection, entry, and management functions in a research program.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect data via abstraction from paper and electronic medical records.
- Maintain logs of patient screening, treatments, and visits.
- Data entry, management and calculations using a computerized database, word processing and spreadsheet software; review data input for accuracy and completeness.
- Actively communicate and update supervising coordinators, collaborators, administrators, clinicians and/or and program leaders on patient enrollment/treatment/eligibility and data collection status via verbal and written communication.
- Identify appropriate patients for the clinical program.
- Communicate with program sponsors, coordinators and collaborators.
- Maintain filing system for electronic and paper-based patient records.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Attend regular group meetings (weekly or monthly).
- Obtain consent and HIPAA approvals from eligible patients.
- Administer standardized surveys to patients or their proxies via phone, or via in-patient, clinic or home visits.
- Call patients with reminders of their appointments.
- Conduct standardized assessments of patients via in-patient, clinic or home visit.
- Escort patients through hospital during any visit.
- Set up and take down equipment for patient testing.
- Literature search & organize data for program-related reports and papers.
- Prepare study documents for IRB submission, as needed.
- Follow all written and unwritten program practices, procedures and protocols.
- Organize and file patient records; prepare and maintain program materials.
- Prepare weekly report of work hours and activities for review by supervisor.
- Carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision and ask for clarification when needed.

- High level of motivation for job functions with a positive attitude.
- Good judgment, tact, and sensitivity in interpersonal interactions with research staff, investigators, and students.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Some related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

- Some college coursework,

Starting Salary Range: $15.40 - $23.25 HRLY ($32,032 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm
