Research Program Coordinator

Department of Geriatric Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry is seeking a Research Program Coordinator to assist with clinical research involving the Clinic Cohort of the Johns Hopkins Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (JHADRC), working with participants who are cognitively normal, individuals with mild cognitive impairments and persons with dementia.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening questionnaires over the phone to assess the eligibility of new participants.
  • Prepare study packets for the in-person or phone evaluation of the participants.
  • Conduct comprehensive neuropsychological test battery, as well as accurately scoring the tests.
  • Conduct structured interviews with the participants and study partners, on the phone or in person.
  • Review study forms for completeness and accuracy.
  • Enter data from study visits into the JHADRC database a centralized server.
  • Assist with tasks related to autopsy approval including: tracking which participants agreed to post-mortem brain donation (autopsy).
  • Contact participants to follow-up regarding autopsy approval conducted during the annual visit.
  • Assure completed forms are sent to the JHADRC Neuropathology Core, communicate with participants about the autopsy approval procedures.
  • Provide monthly reports of participant autopsy status and number of new enrollees.
  • Track referrals to other studies for participation.
  • Accompany participants for study procedures (e.g., lumbar punctures) in association with the yearly visits.
  • Assist with processing blood specimens from participants and maintaining logs to assure that the specimens are sent to the JHADRC Biomarker Core for long term storage.
  • Assist with generating and reviewing subject lists from the database to determine subject status and status of data entry.
  • Assist with reviewing list of enrolled participants due for their annual visit and schedule study visits, as needed (this requires working closely with the staff who evaluate the participants during the visits).
  • Order and track office and medical supplies.
  • Manage payment system for participants.
  • Attend weekly clinical conferences to present testing data and bimonthly joint clinical core conferences.
  • Respond in to special projects or queries related to the study.
  • Participate in outreach, advertising and recruitment efforts for the ADRC and the memory disorders research group at Bayview.
  • Work collaboratively with junior and senior faculty, nurses, physicians and other department research staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge in a health-related field.
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with a team of researches and with a diverse participant population.
  • Good computer skills, and the ability.
  • Excellent attention with detail, ex coding data, reviewing form and data entry.
  • Must be able to work independently with modest direction.
  • Familiarity with basic medical terminology.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
  • Some related experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a health-related field.
