Research Program Coordinator

We are seeking a Research Program Coordinator who will collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to manage multiple clinical research studies. The Research Program Coordinator operates under the PI's guidance and ensures daily study activities run smoothly, playing a vital role in study conduct. The role demands juggling multiple studies and extracting complex clinical data from medical records.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting the PI with drafting of IRB documents and responding to IRB inquiries for approval and oversight of clinical research studies.
  • Responsible for assisting the PI with drafting of grants to fund clinical research projects.
  • Responsible for assisting the PI with drafting data sharing agreements for collaborative projects with other investigators outside of JHU.
  • Responsible for communicating, sending data, receiving data, and analyzing data in conjunction with collaborators.
  • Responsible for screening, recruiting, and obtaining informed consent from potential participants for clinical research studies.
  • Coordinate study clinic visits.
  • Responsible for training study participants in the use of the iCare HOME handheld tonometer and measuring corneal-compensated intraocular pressure and corneal hysteresis during study clinic visits.
  • Guide patients through study activities and identify and resolve potential compliance issues.
  • Act as the point of contact for study participants, offering a responsive and supportive channel for addressing inquiries, concerns, and device-related issues.
  • Travel to Wilmer's satellite locations to enroll new study participants and ensure standardized protocols across different sites.
  • Exercise oversight over the entire spectrum of data collection activities, including record keeping of all study related information and database entry.
  • Maintain a comprehensive repository of documents and records related to study participants and research endeavors.
  • Review medical charts in Epic and extract data for chart review.
  • Review of ophthalmic imaging and testing, including visual field testing and optical coherence tomography of the retinal nerve fiber layer, to extract relevant data for input into databases.
  • Organize data for input into statistical software programs.
  • Actively participate in study meetings and generate ideas for analyses and publication of study data.
  • Mentor research students who may also be participating in clinical research studies.
  • Draft manuscripts describing the results of clinical research studies for publication.
  • Present the results of clinical research studies at research conferences.
  • Collection, processing, and storage of biofluid samples to be analyzed using the SomaScan platform at or on behalf of FireCyte Therapeutics.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Excel, Red Cap (not required but preferred), Stata or equivalent program.
  • Data analysis and statistics skills preferred but not required.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
