Research Technologist
We are seeking a Research Technologist who will be a member of a lively, dynamic, and enthusiastic investigative team in a busy immunology laboratory studying cancer immunology and developing new cancer immunotherapies. The applicant will be responsible for performing human and murine ex vivo and in vivo experiments, with minimal guidance, using basic and emerging immunological and cell culture techniques combined with state of the art, cutting-edge immunogenomic technologies. In addition, he/she will assist with general laboratory tasks, including processing of human blood/tissue specimens, cell culture, and general maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform human and mouse T cell immune assays.
- Participate in mouse breeding, colony maintenance, mouse genotyping, and in vivo experiments studying various CD4 and CD8 T cell molecules of interest.
- Collect, process, and bank human biospecimens in a timely and efficient manner.
- Set up and maintain in vitro cell cultures.
- Analyze data and interpret findings.
- Follow established lab procedures and protocols and utilize aseptic technique to perform experiments.
- Maintain accurate, detailed data records in laboratory notebooks and electronically on file servers, ensuring their appropriate file backup, description, accuracy, and completion.
- Must be able to communicate well and work with others.
- Must be available for occasional biospecimens obtained after hours.
- Assist with research projects, published journal database searches, manuscript preparation and troubleshooting, as needed.
- Participate in general laboratory tasks, including maintenance of lab equipment, monitoring inventory levels, and ordering materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Organize and manage orders of reagents and supplies.
- Prepare reports of findings by compiling/annotating results, and preparing figures/tables, when required.
- Presenting data to lab members at monthly meetings.
- Prioritize daily tasks and responsibilities appropriately.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months of post-undergraduate experience in a comparable laboratory, or a significant independent research project, not related to normal course requirements.
