General Description

 

The Senior Coordinator of International Programs is responsible for coordination of the International Programs team and assisting in development and implementation of a strategic plan for international fundraising. In addition, the Senior Coordinator will help to facilitate connections to the divisions of Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine, conduct prospect research and propose potential internationally based prospects. This position supports the Director of International Programs and two associate directors of development by maintaining Aladin records in Relationship Management, and with reconciling expenses, planning travel, and scheduling appointments with constituents.

 

Fundraising & Relationship Management:

 

Identifies potential leads to new donors through new data, research and referrals.

 

Assists team in advising briefing teams on materials for president, deans and/or other university leadership including timeline of events, speaking points, and biographical information.

 

Writes letters, prepares proposals and gift agreements for prospects in consultation with development officers of the international programs team.

 

Gathers and incorporates information from multiple sources to produce reports that include: giving participation numbers; numbers of gifts in various categories; types of gifts; and endowed gift tracking.

 

Manages and coordinates the stewardship process for International Programs including gift acknowledgment process, and assists with the execution of MGO’s cultivation of major donor relationships through mailings, visits, presentations, and events, as needed.

 

Meets with MGOs regularly and helps gift officers develop and execute appropriate annual stewardship plans for mandatory and voluntary plans, including special plans for principal prospects.

 

 

Events and Project Management

 

Provides project management to implement international fundraising strategic plan, including assessing timelines, creating correspondence, analyzing and reporting status, and identifying solutions to barriers that may exist.

 

In conjunction with the international programs team, leads, plans and executes donor events and initiatives as appropriate, such as donors visits, prospect dinners, roundtables and summits as laid out in the strategic plan.

 

 

Office and Administrative Management

 

Develops content for university publications and the international program development website.

 

Stays abreast of university and alumni news to recommend strategic content.

 

When necessary, manages international programs gift data and oversees gift depositing and reporting process to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

 

When necessary, directs oversight and execution of gift processing and acknowledgments, ensuring it is handled in compliance with JHU standards.

 

In conjunction with major gift officers, creates and reviews donor gift and pledge agreements and tracks payments to support cash flow projections.

 

Forwards gift agreements to appropriate authorized signers for review and approval.

 

Oversees office budget, individual gift officers’ travel expenses, individual reimbursements, and regular reconciliation of budget transactions and year-end closing paperwork.

 

Other duties as assigned.

 

Note: This position requires working outside normal business hours and on the weekend. Some travel may be required.

 

 

Qualifications

 

High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Five years related experience required. Experience should include volunteer management, fundraising or related field, preferably in an institution of higher education. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula (30 undergraduate degree credits/semester hours or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience).

 

Special Skills and Knowledge:

 

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
  • Ability to work as part of a results-oriented team.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to master and apply new development computer software systems, particularly HTML and STATA
  • Proficiency in a second language a plus
  • Website design experience is a plus
  • Statistical analysis experience is a plus
