Sightline is seeking a Sightline Sr. Strategic Project Manager to be an integral member of the JHU Finance and Sponsored Projects Teams. While this position will report to the Sr. Director of Financial Integration, the role will support the Sightline offices of Sponsored Projects and Finance, for both the University and Health System.
The Sr. Strategic Project Manager will be responsible for supporting all phases of project management during the development and implementation of new technology solutions, as well as transformation initiatives, for the functional areas of Finance and Sponsored Projects. The Sr. Strategic Project Manager will integrate the various workstreams and collaborate closely with Sightline’s functional teams, including Human Resources, Payroll, Supply Chain, and Technical teams, as well as other business operations/transformation initiatives.
The Sr. Strategic Project Manager will execute project management processes and methodologies to ensure Finance and Sponsored Projects are delivered on time and adhere to high-quality standards. This individual will be responsible for coordinating project plans, team and work assignments, guiding, and monitoring work efforts daily, identifying resource needs and escalating functional, quality, and timeline issues appropriately.
Candidates must possess excellent negotiation, facilitation, consensus-building, and diplomacy skills and will exhibit a strong customer service orientation.
Job Scope/Complexity
- The Sr. Strategic Project Manager will oversee a diverse portfolio of highly complex projects, requiring advanced organizational and multitasking skills to successfully manage competing priorities. This role involves fostering and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and consultants to ensure alignment, collaboration, and successful outcomes.

Project Management
- Monitors and aligns project activities within the Finance and Sponsored Project functions, proactively addressing dependencies, facilitating collaboration, and driving the completion of all aspects of the implementation according to the project plan.
- Establishes and maintains clear, streamlined communication channels across all stakeholder groups, ensuring that all parties are informed, aligned, and actively contributing to objectives and milestones.
- Integrates multiple cross-functional processes and disciplines to meet functional goals.
- Communicates proactively with stakeholders to encourage, identify problems, create solutions, and implement efficiency improvements.
- Responsible for curating meeting agendas and materials for meetings with JHU Functional Leads, Office of Change Management, Transformation Office, Leaders and other stakeholders.
- Reviews the risks, actions, items and decisions (RAID) log and proactively escalate concerns as needed.
Planning And Innovation
- Collaborates with the finance and sponsored Projects teams to ensure project goals and objectives are clearly defined, measurable, and effectively aligned with the overall transformation strategy.
- Ensures the project continues to stay on task and on time.
- Employs innovative planning techniques to streamline project workflows, anticipate potential challenges, and proactively address them with create solutions.
- Actively encourage and integrate input from cross-functional teams to implement innovative approaches that enhance project outcomes.
Analysis And Documentation
- Ensures version control and organization of project documents for easy retrieval and audit readiness.
- Document lessons learned and best practices to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Produce high-quality documentation that meets Johns Hopkins standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
- Conducts thorough needs assessments to identify project requirements, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Eight years related experience in project management with proven ability to work independently on projects.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three to five years' experience supporting large portfolios in a higher education, healthcare or other complex setting.
- Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.
