Sr. Development Coordinator


The Senior Development Coordinator of Constituent Engagement is part of the Development and Alumni Relations office at CTY, which builds the pipeline of donors by engaging alumni, parents, and friends in the life of CTY through Alumni Relations, Annual Giving, and Stewardship. This role will be involved in all aspects of CTY’s constituent engagement programs and is specifically responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of CTY’s Alumni Relations and Stewardship efforts.


Areas of Responsibility:


Program Support:  50%

  • Provide comprehensive and detailed administrative support for CTY’s year-round stewardship program, including report creation and distribution, student letter review, and tracking.
  • Coordinate alumni lanyard distribution at CTY summer sites and through the mail.
  • Record all alumni engagement work in Aladin, CTY’s development database.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director on all aspects of CTY’s Alumni Relations, including developing content for alumni communications, refining the Alumni Relations strategic plan, and identifying alumni interested in becoming more involved with CTY.
  • Monitor and respond to the CTY Alumni Network email and LinkedIn accounts.


Development & Constituent Engagement: 25%

  • Complete a minimum of 25 substantive actions annually (conversations at events, phone calls, etc.) with CTY alumni with the goal of generating leads for meaningful connections, annual giving and alumni stewardship.


Event Coordination: 25%

  • Coordinate logistics for all constituent engagement events, including alumni dinners, parent gatherings, and others. Prepare and maintain invitations, RSVP lists, and related communications, and provide event support day-of.
  • Manage the preparation for and implementation of Pi Day, CTY’s annual alumni day of giving, in conjunction with the Office of Annual Giving, and coordinate follow-up.
  • Travel as needed to support and serve as additional event management including onsite preparation, registration of guests, etc. including some travel and events outside of normal working hours.  Troubleshoot during events to ensure that they run according to schedule.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
  • Three years of related experience required. Experience in a higher education or nonprofit setting preferred. 


Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be adept and comfortable at working effectively with diverse constituent groups and senior institutional staff, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management abilities, including the capacity to manage deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ideal candidate will have the ability to thrive in an intellectually challenging, fast-paced, collegial environment, demonstrating integrity, mature judgement, and discretion with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Some regional and national travel required, including nights and evening work, for CTY alumni events and parent gatherings.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).  Prior experience with donor relationship management systems a plus.
  • This position requires someone with a strong commitment to and interest in supporting the mission of CTY.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.


The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
