Sr. Financial Analyst

The Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst. The Sr. Financial Analyst will work with enterprise systems to analyze data, create reports, develop plans, and prepare communications. The Sr. Financial Analyst will participate in financial oversight, prepare transactions, assure reconciliation of accounts, and share reports with Johns Hopkins faculty and staff stakeholders.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities


Financial Oversight

  • Maintain master data files able to interact with enterprise systems.
  • Prepare monthly reports & dashboards utilizing prepared templates able to apply skills related to reconciliation, analysis, excel & data management.
  • Design and produce other special reports as requested.
  • Act as go to resource for reports & analysis of funds flow, balances, and projections able to act independently maintaining financial controls and accuracy of accounts.
  • Participate in planning able to become an expert on division’s book of business including patient care, research, & teaching.
  • Optimize sources and usages of funds flow able to find gaps, actively resolve problems, and discover opportunities.
  • Participate in planning & analysis of faculty incentive & faculty total compensation.
  • Monitor usage of funds by faculty helping to develop budgets, calculate burn-rates, and prevent cost overruns.
  • Assist with presentations able to actively adapt to requests & assemble facts & figures for written computation & calculation.
  • Contribute to change management strategy for major organizational activities and events in alignment with Divisional, Departmental and/or institutional objectives.


Clinical Revenue Analysis

  • Participate in evaluation and modeling of optimal clinical billing strategies.
  • Ensure rebates & credits for infusion service line are tracked & posted.
  • Maintain the GAAP report for infusion service line.
  • Prepare data and insight for the GI data warehouse related to clinical effort, onboarding, and optimizing clinical revenue.
  • Maintain & improve integration of Qgenda, billing, and projections.


Project Management & Transactions

  • Participate in project management able to build tools & models related to patient care, research, & teaching.
  • Assist with transactions related to reimbursement, shopping carts, cross entity transactions, invoicing, and payroll.
  • Use software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, cost-accounting systems and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.
  • Follow policies for compliance maintaining controls & preventing problems.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
  • Five years progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience.
  • Additional education (master's in a related field) may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Johns Hopkins University accounting system and related fiscal offices.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
