Sr. Medical Office Coordinator
The Department of Neurology is seeking a Sr. Medical Office Coordinator, for the Neuromuscular Department in the School of Medicine. The Sr. Medical Office Coordinator will coordinate the medical offices for five providers of the Neuromuscular Divisional including the coordinator for the Peripheral Nerve Center and ALS specialty clinics.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordination of medical offices includes, scheduling patients for outpatient clinics as well as inpatient hospitalizations, preparing patient charts, coordinating and calling in prescriptions, distributing clinic notes to referring physicians and patients, attending clinics with Drs. when needed, to assist with maintaining room coordination, patient paperwork, weighing of patients, registering patients for testing, coordinating follow up appointments and calls for results, providing patients with appropriate prescriptions and reading materials.
- As referral coordinator for the Peripheral Nerve Center, multiple patient records are received, logged, reviewed, assigned and distributed to the appropriate Neurologist.
- Answering multiple phone lines, triaging phone calls and messages, checking voice mail, scheduling administrative calendars, transcribing dictations, making travel arrangements, submitting reimbursements, paying bills for the doctors, lab staff, office, assisting visitors, guests, and faculty as needed.
- Additionally, assist the neuromuscular fellows with needs such as ordering lab coats and supplies.
- Assist in coordinating the weekly Neuromuscular Conferences by ordering lunches and paying bills.
- Coordinate the paperless meetings and be the main point of contact for questions and concerns about the process.
- Routinely audit the paperless process and report inaccuracies, changes, and suggestions to improve the process for ease, accuracy, and compliance.
- Manage the Neuromuscular database, which is designed for physicians to track their patients, diagnoses, and tests that has been completed.
- Coordinate monthly meetings with Administrative Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent
- Three years progressively responsible medical office experience.
- Medical terminology required.
- Intermediate computer and proofreading skills required.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the Johns Hopkins system strongly preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $18.20 - $33.90 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
