General Description

 



Work with a team of researchers supporting Data Science Lab, Coursera and swirl efforts. Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Developing and managing/maintaining our MOOC programs (4 million plus enrollments)
  • Helping to build on our data prototyping class locally at Johns Hopkins
  • Helping to launch an in person training program for remote work
  • Pursuing independent data science education projects.

 

Report to the Data Science Lab (DSL) leadership. Essential job functions include deep knowledge of the R statistical programming language and the ability to manage multiple data science education projects simultaneously. (This includes the ability to create technical programming content.) The programmer/analyst will support the technical needs of the DSL and it’s programs. (These programs include the Data Science Specialization, the Genomic Data Science Specialization and the Neuroimaging specialization.) Support multiple programs for in person data app prototyping and remote work programs. Interact closely with the DSL staff, the online instructors and production specialists.

Perform other duties as required.

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree preferably in a data focused discipline. Three years of related work experience with computer systems and applications, and technical experience in the data science field. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Experience in instructing or creating content for data science education programs. Advanced level knowledge of the R programming environment. Extensive knowledge of git version control and github. Basic analysis and statistical skills. Good communication skills and the ability to work with others. Experience managing large repositories including large forks. 

**JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.**
