The Development and Alumni Relations Team (DAR) is responsible for raising philanthropic resources and building connections with alumni and unaffiliated individuals, foundations, and corporations to support Johns Hopkins University and Medicine’s mission.  The Office of Relationship Management and Prospect Analytics (ORMPA), supports fundraiser performance through the data management, strategic insights, and data-centric approaches to moves management. 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of the ORMPA, the Sr. Relationship Management Analyst is a key member of the team, tasked with leading data management, conceptualizing and executing training, and serving as a main point of contact for DAR colleagues.  Through these activities, the Sr. Relationship Management Analyst will help ORMPA prepare for our upcoming database conversion.  The person in this role will be an integral partner in building out new workflows and processes to support scalable solutions in our new customer relationship management (CRM) database.

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Relationship Management Database Management
    • Create, maintain, monitor, and audit complex database records related to relationship management.  This requires accurately and efficiently entering and retrieving data from the CRM database using queries, reports, and bulk uploads.    
    • Diagnose data integrity and quality control issues, recommend solutions, and delegate and supervise administrative staff as necessary to resolve issues. A key component will include the support of recurring portfolio maintenance activities such as portfolio reviews and annual goal setting.
  • Portfolio and Pipeline Management
    • Liaise with team members in Relationship Management and Development Research, as needed, to support portfolio reviews. This includes providing key information about managed prospects to support moves management and strategy discussions, in addition to capturing relevant data in the CRM.
  • Relationship Management Reporting
    • Generate relationship management reports that provide accurate projections of gifts in the pipeline and snapshots of the prospect pool and strategies.  This will require the ability to query and compile CRM data for portfolio and pipeline projects as well as monthly, quarterly and annual office reports.  Ability to develop, present, and implement special projects and reports to better serve department purposes, preferred.
  • Orienting and Training Colleagues
    • Serve as the key trainer and technical support for DAR staff, supporting gift officers across all business units.  This includes disseminating and communicating changes in business practices (as needed) to administrative staff, documenting standard operating procedures, coordinating training schedules, and managing relationship management roles in the CRM for incoming and outgoing DAR staff.
  • Build Internal Relationships
    • Develop and maintain effective work relationships with a variety of colleagues and work as an effective member of the ORMPA team.  This includes responding to routine requests for information, providing answers to problems and/or inquiries relating to donors and prospects, and collaborating with gift officers to solicit input and explain database decisions.
    • Identify and cultivate key relationships within the Office of Advancement Services that enable the efficient execution of essential tasks to support data integrity and reporting.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree. 

One year related experience supporting business operations and frontline staff required. Additional professional experience strongly preferred.  Experience in prospect development or in a higher education advancement setting is preferred. 

Additional graduate level education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, and to formulate productive partnerships with individuals and groups of all levels of University staff, particularly development officers, faculty, and administration.

Self-starter with a proven ability to proactively set priorities, manage detailed multiple projects simultaneously, learn and execute new areas quickly, take ownership of major areas of responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and function in a team environment.  

Outstanding organization, planning and analytical skills. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Capable of appropriately handling confidential and proprietary information and using sound judgment in working with sensitive material.

APRA Ethics

Experience with direct oversight of functions related to data administration, data integrity, and records management preferred.

Exceptional computer skills that include Microsoft Office Suite and relational databases. Proficiency with Excel required; Salesforce CRM and Tableau preferred.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
