Student Accounts Assistant

General Summary/Purpose

 

The Student Account Business Office with the School of Public Health is seeking a Student Accounts Assistant.

 

Specific Duties/Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for opening and closing office daily
  • Prepare all daily cashier close out activity within SBS - including cash, check and credit payments received and prepare for securing in office safe.
  • Responsible for 3rd Party billing for outside agencies/vendors.
  • File completed cashier close out sessions
  • Post charges, adjustments, loans and scholarships to Student Billing System (SBS)
  • Receive and post all private loans from Financial Aid Office
  • Oversee and post all Veteran Affair payments for JHSPH
  • Open and distribute mail
  • Monitor  Bursar email account, answer questions, forward inquiries to appropriate staff members and manage the calendar
  • Provide departmental support by verifying deposits, petty cash drop off and pick up and record each deposit on a daily deposit log
  • Provide Notary Public service for all PH students, staff and faculty
  • Provide student support by assisting walk-in student traffic, reviewing student accounts
  • Originate student refunds
  • Sell MTA  and copy cards
  • Answer phones and monitor voicemail messages
  • Complete Canadian Tax forms
  • Prepare itemized student statements
  • Print and monitor Paywire Portal Report weekly- file and complete SBS batch work
  • Prepare MTA Monthly Pass sales log and Print MTA report monthly
  • Verify, print and file Accounts Payable Invoices
  • Verify Dunbar pick-up
  • Updates all office website information and self-service announcements.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

High School Diploma. One year experience in related environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Some college preferred.
  • Related experience in banking, cash handling, or related environment. 
  • Experience reading accounts.
  • Knowledge of ISIS.

 

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

Excellent customer service skills. 

Has good oral and written communication skills, along with good organizational skills. 

 

Technical qualifications or specialized certifications

 

 Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.

Hourly Rate Range: $12.97 - $17.87; commensurate with experience

Schedule: Mon-Fri; 8:30am – 5:00pm

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

 

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
