Treasury Associate

We are seeking a Treasury Associate. The International Treasury Associate is responsible for approving and releasing wire transfers through JP Morgan’s Chase ACCESS system and Standard Chartered Bank’s Next Gen system. The International Treasury Associate is also responsible for investigating and resolving issues related to wire transfers and ACH errors.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for Approving Third Party Wires through JP Morgan

  • Approve new vendor bank account information into JP Morgan Access.
  • Verify the accuracy of the payment file created from SAP, including validating banking instructions and modifying payment details.
  • Approve/Release wire payments.
  • Approve/Release State tax and ACH payments.
  • Approve/Release small foreign currency wires through JP Morgan Access.
  • Verify all foreign wires being processed through JP Morgan ACCESS are entered using the proper currency (USD vs. local currency), are compliant with OFAC regulations and have proper documentation and approvals.
  • Review confirmation reports to determine if any payments have rejected.
  • Follow-up with JP Morgan to investigate potential problems and identify a resolve.
  • Record manual wires and ACH Payments in SAP.

Responsible for Approving Wires Through Standard Chartered Bank

  • Approve/Release wire payments.
  • Approve/Release small foreign currency wires through Next Gen.
  • Verify all foreign wires being processed through Next Gen are entered using the proper currency (USD vs. local currency), are compliant with OFAC regulations and have proper documentation and approvals.
  • Review and approve rejected wire payments, if discrepancies have been flagged.
  • Execute special payroll wires.

Responsible for Investigation and resolution of wire transfers/ACH errors

  • Respond to inquiries from JP Morgan through JP Morgan Access-EServe.
  • Work closely with customer service representatives at Standard Chartered Bank to address any returned/held wires.
  • Notify departments if a wire has been returned and request new banking instructions.
  • Retract ACH/wire payments because of incorrect postings due to wrong vendor numbers, etc.
  • Verify funds are re-credited to bank accounts for payments that cannot be re-sent.
  • Resolve bank reconciliation discrepancies related to the wire transfers and ACH payments.

 Remote Imprest Account Maintenance

Serve as back-up to Sr. International Treasury Associate for maintenance of Imprest accounts.

  • Process ceiling increases/decreases in SAP and International database.
  • Complete ceiling close-out requests.
  • Conduct required research associated with ceiling close-out requests.


Within the Division:

  • Work closely with JHPIEGO, CCP, and International Public Health to support their banking needs.

Within the University:

  • Work closely with Treasury Associates and others in Treasury Operations.
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable Shared Services.
  • Work closely with the International Treasury Manager- Daily.

External to the University:

  • Work closely with domestic and international banks.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent personal computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or other related field required.
  • Three years of related financial/accounting, treasury operations or banking activities.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.
