Sr. Clinical Nurse
Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Operations Manager, we are seeking a Sr. Clinical Nurse, who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and of the Urology Clinic at Green Spring Station Pavilion III. Ensures a positive patient centered experience by modeling, promoting and cultivating a commitment to customer service as evidenced by minimal waiting, appointment preparations, proper identification and rooming of patients, safe delivery of services.
Responsibilities include management of nurses (RNs), patient service coordinators (PSCs), and certified medical assistants (CMAs), environmental monitoring in the clinical areas, promotion and implementation of quality improvement initiatives that are aligned with departmental and organizational safety and operational goals. The Sr. Clinical Nurse will work collaboratively with the Administrator, Ambulatory Services Manager, Director of Clinical Operations, and others within the multidisciplinary health care team to optimize patient satisfaction, experience, and outcomes.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the clinic.
- Practice nursing to deliver safe, therapeutic care to urology patients in the clinic.
- Responsible for the design and daily oversight of the clinical practice of complex physician-based practice/center.
- Practice nursing per clinical protocols and under the nursing scope of practice for the State of Maryland.
- Responsible for planning, workflow management and oversight of the clinic.
- Phlebotomy and clinical support integrated within the provider clinic.
- May perform case management services to patients from initial intake through termination of services.
- Provides day to day oversight and supervision of clinical service personnel including RNs, CMAs, and PSCs.
- Ensures adequate staffing based on anticipated clinical and research patient volumes and acuity. Coordinates schedules and assignments based on needs and within practice guidelines.
- Assists in the annual evaluations and performance of clinical staff in collaboration with the clinical operations manager and providers.
- Develops standard operating procedures for areas of responsibility.
- Assures accurate completion of specimens and required documentation to ensure quality and adherence to JHH policies, protocol requirements, and ICH GCP guidelines.
- Participates in planning for new and amended protocols.
- Assists in the development and planning of clinical protocols–specific activities and identify potential barriers to protocol implementation and compliance.
- Coordinates required annual in-services and other in-services as necessary.
- Resolves patient and provider complaints and recommends practice improvements relating to patient flow and team communication; when appropriate, escalates problems in a timely manner to the Director of Clinical Operations and Administrator when appropriate.
- Responsible for tracking patient volumes, research samples/tests, and documentation errors to identify patterns/trends to support corrective action, staff education and quality improvement.
- May provide crisis intervention as needed by patients and their family members.
- Interact with faculty, trainees, and other clinical providers in the management of patients seen in the clinic, during both clinic session and management outside of the clinic.
- Responsible for managing patient treatment programs.
- Serve as a clinical resource on the nursing assessment of complex patients.
- Develop and manage patient education sessions and materials.
- Triage and review incoming phone messages and communicate with clinical providers and patients as needed.
- Review all lab data and triage accordingly to clinical providers.
- Serve as a patient advocate.
Minimum Qualifications
- Individual must be a registered nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing.
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing or related discipline required.
- Require minimum of two years of related nursing experience, with additional experience preferred.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Urology nursing experience is preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $75,100 - $131,700 Annually ($103,400 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
