CO Pro Fee Supervisor

The Pathology Department is seeking a CO Pro Fee Supervisor to supervise the Client Accounts Receivable Staff responsible for ensuring that client account reimbursement is at expected levels. Provide staff oversight for the submission of client bills to outside institutions. Assist in developing office policies and procedures, serve as a lead for troubleshooting, problem solving and will be expected to exercise independent judgment. Complete tasks as needed and defined by department management. Requires an understanding of client services billing in EPIC with understanding of EPIC professional fee billing system. Maintain strict confidentiality of staff and patient information. Promote team work and identify areas of improvement and recommend coordinated actions to bring about changes.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities


Procedural Knowledge

  • Interviews, and makes recommendations for hiring, termination, and other performance related functions.
  • Provides direct staff supervision to include training, orientation, maintaining work schedules, and assigning workflow.
  • Monitors the quality and productivity of staff and documents performance and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Communicates with patients, physicians, client accounts and other departments as applicable.
  • Exercises discretion and good judgment in resolution of daily issues.
  • Assists with controlling expenditures, purchasing, payroll, record control and other administrative activities.
  • Assists with developing, interpreting, monitoring, implementing and maintaining CPA Policy and Procedures.
  • Develops and prepares statistical reports for management and CPA analysis.
  • Performs miscellaneous related duties as assigned.


Technical Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge and compliance of HIPAA rules and regulations in the dissemination of patient Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Working knowledge of JHU/ PBS Billing Applications for client accounts.

Specific Physical Requirements

  • Finger dexterity required, able to manipulate objects with fingers rather than entire hand(s) or arm(s), e.g., use of computer keyboard.

  • Able to lift minimum weight, 10 lbs.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Five years medical billing experience. One year lead or supervisor experience required.
  • Additional education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in a related field.
  • CPC strongly preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of medical billing and experience using the appropriate billing system.
  • Knowledge of JHM and JHU/PBS billing applications.
