Talent Acquisition Sourcing Consultant

The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth is seeking a Talent Acquisition Sourcing Consultant  who will lead strategic and tactical talent acquisition efforts for our part-time casual staff. CTY recruits and hires more than 1,600 seasonal and other part-time staff each year. This role will play an integral role in developing a robust, national talent acquisition strategy for niche skill sets and areas of expertise in a high volume, fast paced recruitment model. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to understand the needs of the business, operate from a perspective that values partnership and be excited by the opportunity to lead a team (including virtual team members) of sourcing specialists.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement proactive, creative and cost-effective recruiting plans and programs to fuel the talent pipeline of instructors, teaching assistants, site directors, nurses and other staff necessary to continue to provide an exceptional experience to academically gifted and talented students in our programs (inclusive of summer camp and online programming).
  • Conduct and lead the sourcing, screening and interviewing efforts to support high-volume hiring necessary to support seasonal and ongoing part-time hiring needs with focus on developing and maintaining a network of professional contacts to help identify, source and engage industry leaders in building qualified candidate pipelines.
  • Manage a team of local and virtual part-time (casual) sourcing specialists.  
  • Identify performance metrics and expectations to ensure hiring needs are met timely and with the utmost focus on candidate quality.
  • Identify and leverage sources and Internet sourcing techniques to identify and engage active and passive candidates, including employee referrals, databases, college campuses, search engines, job boards, social media, user groups, blogs and other sources.
  • Cultivate effective business partnership with CTY leaders, managers, supervisors and staff. 
  • Partner with, educate and consult with hiring managers on recruiting process, strategy and expectations.
  • Identifying challenges and obstacles to hiring as well as anticipate upcoming ones in order to provide a proactive, competitive approach to talent acquisition.
  • Partner with the CTY HR team, hiring managers and leaders on workforce planning, staffing needs and internal mobility.
  • Consults with CTY HR team as well as University central HR as needed to ensure talent acquisition needs are met without risk to compliance and other University guidelines.
  • Generates reports and analytics for HRD, DBO, Finance Director, Executive Director and other stakeholders as requested.
  • Assist the HR Director in developing and articulating the employee value proposition for part-time casual staff.
  • Manage multiple requirements, screen resumes and update candidate pipeline progress in CTY’s applicant tracking system.
  • Proactively recommend system and process improvements.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, or other related field.
  • Three years of progressive experience in high volume, fast-paced staffing, corporate recruiting, university recruiting or admissions capacity.
  • Prior experience with Boolean techniques, contact lists, social networking sits, alumni boards, campus tools, networking events, niche industry sites, conference lists etc. related to the K-12 and/or gifted and talented education industry.
  • Prior experience building a successful sourcing and/or hiring strategy.
  • Prior experience with technology applications including applicant tracking systems and CRM tools.
  • Ability to build and lead a high performing team.
  • Knowledge of recruiting metrics, assessment tools and techniques and the ability to use data to tell a story about results and impact.

 

Special/Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven ability to motivate and lead a high-performance production driven team. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with little direction, prioritize workloads, multi-task and manage priorities in order to meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience leading a sourcing, recruiting, admissions or inside sales team preferred.
  • Prior experience sourcing candidates from multiple markets
  • Track record of performing well against talent acquisition sourcing metrics.
  • Strong customer service skills with both client and customers. 
  • Flexibility in adapting to and responding quickly to changing priorities and deadlines with a high sense of urgency.
  • Familiar with employment law related to pre-employment screening, OFCCP and other regulations that impact the sourcing and hiring process.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and work appropriately with highly sensitive information.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
  • Ability to partner with an influence Hiring Managers as a talent advisor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills.

 

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications:

  • Experience with applicant tracking systems. 
  • Prior Success Factors experience a plus.
  • Able to work in a digital environment requiring strong technical skills (MS SharePoint, Box, Formstack, Skype, MS Project, Excel & PowerPoint etc.)

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional movement about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, various workstations, etc. including movement from floor to floor-using elevators and stairs.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine and printer. 
  • Dexterity of hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse pad and other office machinery.
  • Frequent communication with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations verbally and in writing.
  • Position also requires a degree of mobility common to working in an office environment; bending, kneeling or standing during events and presentations may be required.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Will supervise a team of part-time casual sourcing staff.

 

Additional information:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the US and based in the US.
